Fronted by explosive lead singer James Poulos, Black Hi-Lighter features Grammy-winning producer/engineer Eric Liljestrand on guitar,Dave Wright on bass, and Mark Reback on drums. The band – which thrives on an unpredictable DIY ethic – is set to broaden a devoted L.A. fan-base with the Belasco residency, where Black Hi-Lighter will bring kindred acts from across the country to the stage in the months to come.

As Poulos summed up the approach in Alternative Press last year: “The point of art is to pull people into creating an unpredictable possibility, and the point of rock ‘n’ roll is to plug that experience into sex and death in a way that ends up affirming life and love.” Revelatory words from a man whose extraordinary passion is a powerful new force in music. Look for Black Hi-Lighter to make big waves in L.A. and beyond throughout 2014.

“[A]n intoxicating glitter-garage sound that slithers and stomps with the best of them…Bite the Bullet sounds like a breakthrough waiting to happen. We’re hopping on the hype train early.” – Origami Vinyl

Bite the Bullet might be the best glam album of 1974, replete with Poulos’ vocal affectations, guitarist Eric Liljestrand’s sense of the appropriate and the in-the-pocket grooves of bassist David Wright and drummer Mark Reback.” – Alternative Press

“Highland Park’s own glitter-garage contenders bust out with a tuff slice of classic stomp n’ roll! James’ vocals sneer and howl while the band churns out pummeling, no-nonsense trash riffs in the engine room. Hot stuff, could be big!” – Amoeba Music
