Silver Lake Film Festival, Green Galactic and Conduit Artists Present
Encompass: A Night of Electronic Music, Film and Performance September 14th 2002
Los Angeles, CA – On the first Saturday of the Silver Lake Film
Festival (9/12/02 – 9/21/02) September 14th, 2002 LA’s most
cutting edge film festival, the Silver Lake Film Festival, underground
progressive marketing company Green Galactic and nascent arts production
group Conduit Artists present Encompass: A Night of Electronic Music,
Film and Performance.The event will take place at the Downtown Palace Theater at 636 S. Broadway
in the constantly evolving Broadway Theater District in Downtown Los Angeles'
historic core. The event will utilize all the public spaces of this classic
building, the theater, the 5th floor loft, basement and the mezzanine
public areas.
The festive evening which runs from 6:00pm until 4:00am kicks off with a
cocktail reception from 6:00pm –8:00pm in the theater and lobby to the smooth
sounds of Silver Lake’s favorite DJ Dave Sanford aka DJ Santo. The film
program will begin at 8:00pm with the US premier screening of Hora
2000, a documentary of the Israeli trance scene. Following that will be
a screening of the American dance music documentary RISE, a behind
the scenes look at legendary New Orleans rave promoter "Disco" Donnie Estopinal.
The RISE soundtrack will be released on Utensil/Foodchain Records in
early 2003.
Following the films at around 10:45pm, the 5th Floor loft will
host the DJ talent of Philippe Kane, DJ and promoter of Silver Lake’s
electro party "Electrik," and recent LA transplant, the critically acclaimed
Savalas Brothers. SoCal rave sensation Signal will also be
performing. Dancing will continue until 4:00am.
Meanwhile, after the two feature film screenings, the theater space will be
transformed into a multi-media performance space showcasing the best of the
Downtown/Silver Lake electronic media performance scene. Showcasing their latest
work will be Internationally recognized video artist ptr fhrty along with
collaborator Luke Fischbeck, they will present trans-national. LA
based media artists Dave Foss will present his interactive video work
T.V. Sheriff. Chicago performance artist Trevor Arnholt will
present his crowd-pleasing mix of music video and performance Videoke.
Top local visualists Vello will also be providing their gorgeous
interstitial eye candy. Eden City State will be presenting their award
winning loops in the basement lounge.
Admission to this all night event is $20 and includes free drinks all night!
