LA Freewaves Present
Their 2nd & 3rd Panels in their Ongoing Series
TV or NOT TV:
Discussions to Create a Mass Media Outlet for the Arts
L.A. Central Public Library
Sunday, September 29, 2002
Los Angeles - On Sunday, September 29,
2002 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm LA Freewaves will host
two more public panel discussions in their ongoing series
TV or NOT TV: Discussions to Create a Mass Media Outlet for
the Arts. They are currently in the middle of a series
of eight panel discussions which will culminate during their
bi-annual festival which takes place throughout Los Angeles
during the entire month of November.
These next two panels, the second and
third in the series, explore WEB vs. TV vs. ART and will take
place at the L.A. Central Public Library located at 630 W.
Fifth Street (at Flower) in downtown Los Angeles ( www.lapl.org).
Both panels are free of charge and open to the public.
For the first time in the festival’s
13-year history, festival organizers are presenting these
panels which will bring together alternative media voices,
arts and culture stakeholders, technology experts, and media
academics laying the conceptual and technical groundwork for a
Culture Channel by late 2003.
While the panel discussions are
ultimately focusing on launching a Culture Channel, the
festival is presenting various innovative works that could
potentially air on such a Channel.
This year, choosing the umbrella title
TV or NOT TV , the media arts organization is on a
serious mission as they unfold their ambitious schedule of
public events. The mission: to enable an affordable, dedicated
source for the worldwide dissemination of arts and culture. LA
Freewaves' Founder and Executive Director, Anne Bray
explains, “The matrix of Internet, satellite technology and
affordable means of production offer an opportunity to
radically reshape the ways in which people experience art. The
broadcasting of contemporary arts, e specially
media and digital arts, is now more than an ideal.”
Please join LA Freewaves on
September 29th
in downtown LA and in November throughout the entire
metropolitan area. Shape the future.
