Dntel is one Jimmy Tamborello who also works as
James Figurine and with his group, Figurine.Over the years,
the human Jimmy Tamborello has released music on: Phthalo,
Plug Research, Blackbean & Placenta, March, 555, Motorway, ~scape,
Darla, Monika, tbtmo, Thousand, Chocolate Art Returns, Elefant,
q-tape, Catmobile, and Silent.
Tamborello used to play in the band Strictly Ballroom, and
he also played for a short time in both Further and the Tyde.
Tamborello started making music in jr. high school, in
1989. He released his first CD under the name Antihouse -
recorded in 1993, released in 1994. Then he recorded the
tracks for the first Dntel EP. Something went wrong and it
wasn't released. He continued to work on scattered ideas for
the next few years (1995-1997), which eventually were
discovered by Phthalo and released as Early Works For Me If
It Works For You as a CDr. Then Phthalo released the
original Dntel EP from ‘94 as Something Always Goes Wrong.
And now Early Works For Me If It Works For You is being
re-released on CD.
Lately, Tamborello has been working on new music
incorporating vocals. A 12" is planned for release on June 22,
2001 on Plug Research called "Anywhere Anyone" with vocals by
Mia Doi Todd. A full length for Plug Research is scheduled for
a Fall 2001 release. Also he has a new Figurine album
scheduled for release this summer (’01) on March records,
called The Heartfelt.
