Beats-based label Whole Nine Yards follow the crossover bomb of “Gasoline Alley” by Elite Force (W9Y018), which crashed straight into DJ Magazine’s Beats & Breaks Chart at #1 but found favour on dancefloors of every persuasion, with the latest from RHYTHM DIVISION.

The Divs last release proper was the classic “Uzi” (5/5 – 7 Magazine), which also debuted in DJ’s Beats & Breaks Chart at #1, and since then W9Y had to make do with their explosive contribution to the ‘whole9yards – volume 1’ compilation, “Red Raw & Sore”. Now the duo return with another slab of their knockout tech-funk in the form of “Aurora,” which continues their deep but malevolent breakbeat excursions, incorporating twisted musicality, driving percussion and techno overtones.

On the flipside, the boys deliver a tougher break with “Skin”. All the RD trademarks are here including rugged, percussive beats, a deep, humming bassline and sci-fi bleeps and squelches.

It’s a bit edgy, exciting, adrenalin-fuelled, and always with the funk.
