Release date: December, 2001
Steve, Dom & Lisa, a.k.a. Solid Ground have been tucked
away in their Bristol studio for most of the last year
perfecting their unique brand of tech-funk. As a result, a
Solid Ground album is well on its way, and "Never Let It
Go" is the first in a series of singles to be released
through W9Y as the label ramps things up before the album in
2002.
Solid
Ground have earned a reputation for adding a bit of soul to
their tough, gritty beats, coupled with the deep,
bowel-rumbling sub-bass we have all grown to love so much.
They also rock it live as well as on club dancefloors - a
difficult combination still relatively uncharted territory in
breaks.
“Never Let It Go”
b/w
“Unit 5” comes a year after Solid Ground’s début for
Whole 9 Yards (“Moving In Time”) which attracted
these kind of responses:
“Fucking top. Love Solid Ground”
– Koma & Bones
“Breakbeat Heaven!”
– Jody (Way Out West)
“Superb. Respect!”
– Terminalhead
“Solid Ground are the nuts! Awesome beats and their production
is one of the best!
– Chris (Hybrid)
Solid
Ground’s year away has been put to good use and “Never Let
It Go” demonstrates that perfectly. 2001 has been a
positive and exciting year for the Whole 9 Yards crew, who
have always pushed forward, breaking down boundaries and
stereotypes within breaks and beyond, and this Solid Ground
release is no exception.
