    ABOUT:
    Las Vegas Run –
Re-Animator™ The Musical, the phenomenon that has dazzled audiences in Los Angeles, New York, and Edinburgh, is at last coming to Las Vegas, where it will play at the beautiful Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Based on the hit movie that practically invented the genre of horror comedy, the show blends side-splitting hilarity with outstanding special effects and some genuinely scary moments for an entertainment experience like none other. The show’s creators believe that Las Vegas audiences will embrace the fun-tastic spectacle as enthusiastically as the show has been received in other cities.

Composer Mark Nutter says, “Las Vegas is a city that has elevated excess to an art form. We’ve done the same thing with Re-Animator™ The Musical. It should be a good fit.”

Producer Dean Schramm enthuses, “We’re thrilled to be playing in Las Vegas at the fabulous Smith Center. We’ve been working on this for a long time and it’s fantastic that this is finally happening.”

Stuart Gordon, director of both the stage and screen versions of Re-Animator, agrees, stating, “I’m excited about new horizons. I’ve taken it to New York, Europe and now Vegas. I’m looking forward to new blood in the audience.” He compares his show to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, in that audience members often come to see Re-Animator™ The Musical multiple times, dressed in costume as their favorite characters and imitating their behaviors.

Re-Animator™ The Musical comes to Las Vegas for the very first time, for sixteen performances only. It’s chilling. It’s bloody. It’s funny. It’s a party. It’s a one-of-a-kind live entertainment.

Winner of six LA Weekly Awards, two LA Drama Critics Circle Awards, and an Ovation Award. New York Musical Theatre Festival Selection. Edinburgh Fringe Festival Selection.

    Re-Animator ™ the Musical  –
Re-Animator ™ the Musical tells the story of Herbert West, a brilliant young medical student who has created a glowing green serum that can bring the dead back to life. What should be a medical breakthrough results in hideous monstrosities and ghastly consequences.

Graham Skipper returns as Herbert West and operatic Jesse Merlin, is back as Dr. Carl Hill who loses his head for Meg, the dean’s beautiful daughter only to actually lose it at the hands of Herbert West.

Also returning from the original cast are (in alphabetical order) Cynthia Carle, Brian Gillespie, Marlon Grace, and Liesel Hanson, playing an assortment of doctors, nurses, and rampaging zombies.

New to the cast members are Darren Ritchie as Dan Cain, the handsome young medical student (and West’s hapless roommate), in love with the dean’s beautiful daughter, now played by Jessica Howell. And Ken Hudson Campbell plays the doomed Dean of the medical school, whom West transforms into a mindless zombie.

Stuart Gordon, the director and co-writer of H.P. Lovecraft’s Re-Animator, the cult film on which the musical is based, has joined his fearless producing partner Dean Schramm to prove that anything that can be done in a movie can be a hundred times more astonishing live on stage. Mark Nutter is composer and lyricist, and his cheerfully disturbing songs have been compared to Tom Lehrer.

Special effects are being done by the same guys who did them for the Re-Animator movie: Tony Doublin, John Naulin, and John Beuchler. They all won LA Drama Critics Circle and LA Weekly awards for their mind-boggling illusions. And the blood will flow so freely that the first row will be once again designated as a “splash zone,” so bring your raincoats.

Laura Fine Hawkes will provide the creepy sets, Joe Kucharski the moldering costumes, and Jeff Ravitz the cadaverous lighting. Stage manager Michael Lemek will be the master of the mayhem.

    The Critics Love Us!

“This tuneful adaptation of a 1985 cult horror movie is big on laughs and even bigger on blood.”

    – Catherine Rampell, New York Times

“Not since Little Shop of Horrors has a screamfest tuner so deftly balanced seriousness and camp.”

    – Bob Verini, Variety

“The keys to this kingdom, however, are the combination of the brilliant comic ensemble and Gordon’s pristine craftsmanship as a director.”

    – Steven Leigh Morris, LA Weekly

“CRITIC’S PICK! Though the show is obviously not appropriate for small children, it has a surprisingly wide appeal. Even those who might not be fans of horror are likely to find something to love in a show staged and performed with such vigor and—forgive us—animation.”

    – Jenelle Riley, Backstage

“All the rave reviews are totally justified as this is the kind of show that keeps you giggling all the way through – especially in the goriest scenes. Stuart Gordon manages to direct the cast with a singleness of purpose. The purpose? Make them laugh. He succeeds big time.”

    – Jose Ruiz, Reviewplays

“This outlandish adaptation of the 1985 cult classic should have fans storming the theater.”

    – David C. Nichols, Los Angeles Times

“Two thumbs up. If you count the bloody severed thumb, it’s three!”

    – Kenneth Hughes, Flavorpill
