The Montalbán, a theatre in Hollywood with a rich history (celebrating three anniversaries in 2019, read more about that below), announced its June screening schedule for its popular Rooftop Movies at The Montalbán. In addition, the venue is also rolling out a new creative curation initiative: weekly themed “Binge Weeks” for the rest of the season. The curation team is programming movies within designated themes that will screen each week including “Bad Ass Denzel,” “Sci-Fi Classics,” “Wild and Crazy Guy!,” “Loaded Weapon 1,” and various series such as “Director Series: Pedro Almodovar.” Read the rest of this entry »More info...

The Montalbán is pleased to announce its outdoor 2018 film screening schedule for its preeminent rooftop event space in the heart of Hollywood, The 2018 Montalbán Summer Movie Series. Carrying on the historic venue’s tradition of screening films since 1933, the five month series begins on Thursday, May 31, 2018 and is scheduled to run through Wednesday, October 31, 2018. Foreign films from Spain and Mexico will inaugurate the summer film series – thanks to LA OLA – Independent Films From Spain and Hola Mexico Film Festival – followed by a diverse range of Montalbán-curated films including Black Panther, Grease, Inglorious Bastards, Sunset Blvd., Superbad and many others. Films are scheduled to run five nights per week – every Tuesday through Saturday – with two screening on Friday and Saturday evenings (some exceptions may apply due to private bookings; always check the schedule). Doors open at 6:00pm and films start screening 10 minutes after sunset. Prices are either $10, $15 or $18. The Montalbán is also pleased to announce its new culinary partner Umami Burger. The Republic of South Africa’s Department of Arts and Culture will bring its South African Arts Festival 2013 (SAAF), a weekend of South African film and music, to Downtown Los Angeles for the first time, with events on Friday, October 4 through Sunday October 6, 2013. The inaugural SAAF 2013 will showcase seven South African films and seven musical artists representing the diversity of the South African experience at free events over two days. Highlights include Saturday’s outdoor “South African Music Festival” at Grand Performances and a day of South African films screening on Sunday at Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 and Grand Performances. Friday’s private preview and the Sunday closing night event both combine the screening of a South African feature film with an invitation-only reception. After a year of culinary experimentation and an award-winning design makeover, Beachwood Cafe Owner Patti Peck (Millie’s Cafe & Edendale Grill) and Chef Minh Phan (Echo Park Artisanal) will celebrate the milestone with a Grand Opening/One-Year Anniversary party on Friday, March 1, 2013. The event will feature an open house from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with free passed appetizers, mocktails and cocktails, followed from 8:00pm to 10:00pm with a $30 tasting menu debuting the cafe’s new spring menu. Beachwood Cafe serves fresh farm-to-table fare in the historic Beachwood Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles (internationally recognizable for the iconic Hollywood sign). The whimsical redesign of the restaurant (formerly the Village Coffee Shop), by Architect Barbara Bestor, earned the cafe a 2012 AIA Restaurant Design Award. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served.
