EmazingLights-iHeartRaves, the world’s largest rave retailer, is opening its first Northern California store in Milpitas, kicking off with a grand opening event on Friday, April 5, 2013. The store will feature EmazingLights glove sets, light sticks, poi, orbits, and iHeartRaves dance apparel to inspire creativity at electronic music events, and beyond. The company is also known for championing the dynamic new Gloving dance movement by organizing weekly, monthly and annual Gloving events. For the Milpitas store grand opening event, regular store hours will be extended until 10:00pm; and the festivities will feature a Gloving 101 Workshop (6:00-7:00pm), Gloving teams in attendance from around California, and the first ever Northern California Friday Night Lights Gloving community social event (7:00-10:00pm). For the fourth year, Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, with FREE nightly screenings of award-winning Francophonic films, from Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22, 2013. The program includes notable films Sister from Switzerland (3/18), Seducing Doctor Lewis from Canada (3/19), The Snows of Kilimanjaro from France (3/20), On the Sly from Belgium (3/21), and Laurence Anyways from Quebec (3/22). All films include subtitles in English. Monday and Friday night screenings are at 7:45pm, preceded by receptions with wine and hors d’oeuvres at 7:00pm. StudioFeed introduces SubPac, portable tactile audio technology that takes sound to the physical dimension through an innovative device that allows users to actually feel music. For use with any existing audio source, the high-fidelity SubPac allows music to be physically experienced by quietly transferring low frequencies directly to the body. Users experience the ‘boom’ of a kick drum, the warmth of an 808, the expression of a bassist, and the richness of soundscapes through a quiet and portable device. Vox Femina Los Angeles continues its 16th season with Half the Sky: Voices of Women Worldwide, a choral concert celebrating the courage and compassion of women around the globe, on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hollywood. The event features Vox Femina’s first installment of an exciting musical cycle, which explores culture and stories of women around the globe. Children from Creative Planet School of the Arts will dance on stage with Vox for “Beneath the African Sky,” a choral piece written by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory that was inspired by genocide survivor Clemantine Wamariya‘s childhood spent in African refugee camps. Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Journey Through Advertising, the second installment of TRK’s short film series, a presentation of thought-provoking, stylish and humorous ads from France and beyond, on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 7:30pm. The presentation features a selection of advertisements, in French, English, and Spanish (with subtitles in English as needed), including shockvertisements, prevention ads, advertisements related to the environment, spots on junk consumption, as well as ads which fuel the obsession for a perfect body. Complimentary wine and cheese will be served at intermission. The program is not suitable for children under the age of 12. The performance space at Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles, Theatre Raymond Kabbaz, with the support of the Québec Government Office in Los Angeles, is pleased to present French-Canadian folk revival quartet Le Vent du Nord as part of its public performing arts series. The highly-acclaimed band’s traditional Québécois music is heavily influenced by Celtic sounds. The show will take place at the Theatre Raymond Kabbaz, 10361 W. Creative Differences is pleased to announce the Tuesday, November 6, 2012 release of Dinotasia, an animated feature film narrated by Werner Herzog, on DVD/Blu-ray and digital platforms in the U.S. and Canada through Flatiron Film Company, a label of Cinedigm Entertainment Group (NASDAQ: CIDM). A marriage between classic visual storytelling and CGI dinosaurs, the film is an anthology of humorous prehistoric stories created in the cartoon-style of the Golden Age of animation. The film is co-directed by long-time Herzog collaborator Erik Nelson and Disney character designer David Krentz.
