In space…no one can hear you’re a Star Trek nerd. Arena Cinelounge, in association with The Montalbán, presents a screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 8:00pm. The beloved sci-film starred Ricardo Montalbán, so Star Trek fans can see The Wrath of Khan at the perfect venue –– Ricardo (Khan himself) Montalban’s own theater. Appearing in person are Star Trek-connected guests including Scott Mantz, Jason Inman, Ashley Robinson, John Rocha, Dan Murrell, Mara Knopic, Robert Meyer Burnett and more. For the sixth year, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, with FREE nightly screenings of critically acclaimed Francophonic films, from Monday, March 16 to Saturday, March 21, 2015. The program includes notable films from Belgium (3/16), Ivory Coast (3/17), Canada (3/18), Switzerland (3/19), Quebec (3/20), and France (3/21). All films include subtitles in English and nightly screenings start at 7:30pm. Monday’s opening night and Saturday’s closing night screenings are preceded by receptions at 7:00pm. A no host bar will be available Tuesday through Thursday. Friday’s event will feature a free beer tasting.

For two days in March, Hollywood will both celebrate the past and embrace the future of indie horror filmmaking at the New Beverly Cinema with Hollywood Horrorfest (HHF). Presented by filmmaker and events organizer Miles Flanagan, the inaugural event will take place at the New Beverly Cinema on Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, 2014 and include competition screenings, panels, raffles, and more. Most of the festival will be free, except for the opening and closing night events, which will include red carpet screenings of The Howling and Return of the Living Dead, respectively.

Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, will hold a free screening on Monday, February 10, 2014 of two French short films, both nominated for this year’s Academy Awards. The films are Mr. Hublot, an animated short film about an eccentric man who adopts a robot puppy, and Avant Que De Tout Perdre (Just Before Losing Everything), a live action short film that follows a woman desperate to escape her abusive husband. A question and answer session will follow the films with Alexandre Espigares, one of the directors of Mr. Hublot. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, in partnership with the Alliance Française of Los Angeles, is pleased to bring Les Lutins du Court-Métrage 2013 to Los Angeles as part of its public performing arts series on Friday, January 31, 2014. A selection of 2013’s best French short films will screen at the event. The evening’s format will be presented in two one-hour long programs with a 15-minute intermission, which will include complimentary wine and cheese. All films in French with English subtitles. Résolument Animés (Resolutely Animated) showcases a collection of animated shorts that highlight the unbridled creativity of France’s new generation of animation directors. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, is pleased to present the World Kora Trio, a rare polycultural musical proposition rooted in western jazz traditions, on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. The World Kora Trio, based in France, features American electric cellist Eric Longsworth, Malian kora player Chérif Soumano, and French singer-percussionist Jean-Luc Di Fraya. The group’s original jazz and folk compositions by Longsworth merge with the colors of African music, embodied by the kora. This will be the group’s U.S. debut; sponsored by Spedidam, Région Rhone Alpes, Fond de la Création Musicale, and The Canada Council for the Arts.
