Lo-Flo Records was a germ of an idea in the 1970s, and ultimately conceived in 2015 by the inimitable songwriter, composer, arranger, librettist, Jane McNealy. The label officially launches with its very first release, “Turn Away from Darkness,” a gospel tribute to triumph over adversity, which will premiere on August 28, 2020, along with a timely music video. The single precedes the label’s debut album, Running Around, which is scheduled for release on October 2, 2020. It will be available on digital platforms as well as in limited quantities of vinyl and CD.

Angel City Chorale (ACC) will reunite with acclaimed Composer Christopher Tin at its upcoming spring concerts, Elements, on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Wilshire United Methodist Church in Los Angeles. Conducted by ACC Founder and Artistic Director Sue Fink, the first half of the concerts will feature selections that explore the four elements in a variety of musical styles including pop (Earth, Wind & Fire), classical (Brahms), as well as spirituals (“Ain’a That Good News”). The second half of the program features the West Coast Premiere of Tin’s new song cycle, The Drop that Contained the Sea, the much-anticipated follow-up to Tin’s Grammy Award-winning album, Calling All Dawns, which was hailed by critics as a masterpiece. Tin’s new classical/world music fusion work features stunning juxtapositions of rhythms and cultures. Songs depict global visions of water from the snows of Mongolia to the rains of Africa. Each of the 10 pieces is sung in a different language, including Proto-Indo-European, Turkish, and Xhosa. ACC also performed the West Coast premiere of Tin’s Calling All Dawns at its 20th Anniversary Concerts last spring. Read the rest of this entry »

The performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, is pleased to present rock band Vadel on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 7:30pm. Featuring 20 year-old multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Adam Vadel, who live in Paris, the band will make its US debut fresh off of opening dates for Santana in Europe this past summer. With his band, composed of David Junior Assolo (bass), Virgile Carlsson (drums), and Jaykeyboards (keyboards), Vadel delivers powerful and straight forward rock ‘n roll in the tradition of T. Rex, David Bowie, and the Kinks, flavored with Beatlesque pop, Zeppelin heaviness, and Prince-worthy funkiness.
