The performance space at Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles, Theatre Raymond Kabbaz, with the support of the Québec Government Office in Los Angeles, is pleased to present French-Canadian folk revival quartet Le Vent du Nord as part of its public performing arts series.  The highly-acclaimed band’s traditional Québécois music is heavily influenced by Celtic sounds.  The show will take place at the Theatre Raymond Kabbaz, 10361 W. Live Talks Los Angeles presents An Evening with Oliver Sacks In Conversation with David Milch on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica.  Dr. Sacks, neurologist and best-selling author, will discuss his provocative new book, Hallucinations (to be released November 6, 2012), which takes the reader into the eerie, psychedelic, and ultimately very real world of hallucinations.  Milch is an Emmy Award-winning writer and producer, best known for his work on Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue and Deadwood. Strength After Cancer, a new post-cancer wellness program, is launching with a garden party hosted in a private Beverly Hills home in Los Angeles on Sunday, October 7, 2012 during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The new program was developed by fitness specialist Jennifer Cheng and nurse practitioner Dale Perry to help cancer survivors create a life of wellness with holistic health support.  Perry is a unique health practitioner – a breast cancer survivor who gained strength and mobility, overcoming muscle weakness and challenges, by developing a protocol with Cheng using specialized rehab exercises and a post-cancer nutraceutical program. The goal of the party is to introduce a new wellness program, based on Perry’s success working in collaboration with Cheng, to select healthcare practitioners, potential clients, the media, and other interested parties in a social setting.  At the event, Strength After Cancer will specifically introduce its innovative pilot program for breast cancer survivors with lymphedema to manage their swelling. Perry will be the featured guest speaker at the event.

Bootleg Theater announces the world premiere of Death of a Salesgirl, an absurdist tragicomedy with integrated media, about one woman’s struggle to free herself from her past, opening in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 13, 2012 and running through Saturday, November 17, 2012.  Written by Patricia Scanlon, Death of a Salesgirl is a dark and humorous parable of a salesgirl breaking in new territory.  This intensely creative interdisciplinary performance piece, directed by Matthew McCray, incorporates video projections, animation and a uniquely crafted set by the award-winning Francois-Pierre Couture.  Death of a Salesgirl stars Patricia Scanlon and Paul Dillon.
